The United States has blamed Russia for destroying and testing its own satellite
The United States has condemned Russia for testing a "dangerous and irresponsible" satellite missile. The United States has said Russia's experiment endangered those on board the International Space Station (ISS).
During this test of a Russian missile, a Russian-owned satellite exploded and shattered. This created debris in space, forcing crews on the International Space Station to enter the capsule for security reasons.
The ISS station currently has seven employees, four of whom are Americans. Two are from Russia and one is from Germany.
The ISS space station orbits the Earth at an altitude of about 420 kilometers (260 miles).
